So The Flaming Lips have been nominated for a Grammy (It's in there somewhere.), and, OK, awards are useless and so on. The thing is, they're up for Best Alternative Album, for the album Fight Test. Except, the Lips down have an album called Fight Test. They've got an EP called Fight Test. And it's, you know, OK. But it is seven songs, three of which are covers (including Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head"), and one of which is a folksy thank you to Jack White. (Who is up for the same award, incidently, for Elephant, which actually is an album in the sense one assumes the Grammys were trying for.) My point is it is kind of a fan-specific thing, unless the world has really gone nuts for their reimagining of "Knives Out" as a slightly slower lo-fi number. Which could have happened, I guess.

Still, it seems kind of unfair.

(There's a Grammy for best liner notes. Huh.)
